Precision Consulting’s Statistical and Economic Expert Testimony (SEET) Division provides a variety of solutions to assist firms with pending or potential future liabilities involving problems of a statistical or economic nature. The SEET Division provides consulting and expert testimony services to Fortune 500 companies, major law firms, government agencies (at the federal, state, and local level), and small businesses.
When giving testimony, we view the role of the expert statistician as that of an educator. Expert witnesses need to be able to explain sophisticated economic and statistical concepts in common sense terms that are accessible. If it is difficult to grasp the concepts being articulated by an expert, the accompanying analyses could be discarded during deliberations. Precision’s testifying experts all have extensive backgrounds teaching statistics or economics at the university level. As such, we are able to present sophisticated concepts in common sense terms, without the use of jargon.
Our SEET Division uses our diverse, close-knit, and well-trained group of statisticians and consultants. As such, we’re able to take on much of the time-consuming preparations that expert testimony requires, which can range from data cleaning and sorting, proofreading and editing, to performing preliminary and even more complex statistical analysis. All of our statistical consultants have completed graduate-level work at elite universities including Caltech, Harvard, and Yale, with specialties in econometrics, psychometrics, and applied mathematics. This diverse team composition allows us to extract the various synergies that arise when quantitative experts from similar but distinct disciplines work together.
Our experience includes analysis and testimony work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Department of Justice, and dozens of Fortune 500 firms, including Nielsen, ESPN, Verizon, and Smucker’s. Our team members have been admitted as experts in the fields of statistics and economics in a variety of federal and state courts throughout the United States, testifying on questions of statistical liability and damages in a variety of civil matters, including Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement cases, utility fee differentials, statistical methodology disputes, and statistical model disputes. Outside of direct testimony, we also provide more targeted statistical consulting support, and have authored independent analyses for numerous matters resolved via mediation or arbitration or otherwise outside of the litigation arena.
As with our management and academic consulting services, we offer flexible pricing options for all expert testimony or consulting, and price all of our engagements on a case-by-case basis. Depending on your needs and timeline, we’re able to offer our services on a per-project, hourly, or retainer basis.
