  • Check general formatting, including italics usage, punctuation, capitalization, and page numbering
  • Review presentation of all front matter, such as Table of Contents, List of Tables, and List of Figures
  • Inspect and update all tables and figures for correct captioning and layout procedures
  • Verify all in-text citations follow the correct author-date format and references are fully completed
  • Validate DOI/source information

MLA

  • Check italics and punctuation usage throughout
  • For Works Cited page, ensure author names follow the last name, first name format (no initials) and verify publisher formatting
  • Verify that all in-text citations follow the correct author-page format and ensure that all direct quotations are attributed and formatted
  • If in-text headings are used, ensure they are numbered and/or follow the correct format

Chicago Manual of Style

  • Check pagination, italics, and capitalization throughout
  • For author-date style, ensure “and” is used rather than ampersand, and that References page is labeled correctly
  • For footnote style, note numbers are superscripted, check font size and style along with italics and parentheses usage, and ensure Bibliography is labeled correctly
  • Ensure all block quotation formatting is correct

Harvard

  • Check punctuation and italics along with capitalization and ampersand usage
  • Ensure correct reference information is provided for electronic sources (DOI vs web address)

Turabian

  • Check capitalization, punctuation, font size, inter-footnote and reference spacing, publisher location, and italics and parentheses usage
  • Ensure margins, typeface, and font size meet style guidelines
